Sedona City Council nixes NSA for Sedona

SEDONA, AZ (November 19, 2009)- The Sedona City Council, at its Nov. 18 meeting, voted 4-2 to reject a National Scenic Area designation for Sedona, after Mayor Adams attempted to adjourn the meeting.

Councilors Dan Surber, Pud Colquitt and Marc DiNunzio agreed with Councilor Scagnelli's motion to reject. Mayor Adams and Councilor Cliff Hamilton voted against the rejection.

  1. (1) There has been so much discussion of the NSA proposal over such a long time frame that the DORR board feels it's time to get a yes or no response from the candidates on behalf of our members.

      • I will encourage Ann Kirkpatrick to move the NSA proposal forward. Yes__ No__


  2. (2) What financial shape do you think City government is in? City staff say (a RRN article Jan 15) that some stories and opinion pieces are using incorrect or misleading information in discussing City finances. What does being fiscally responsible mean to you?


  3. (3) What is the role of the Sedona City government? Should City government's activities be restricted to providing basic services such as police protection or should it be more proactive? What kind services do you think it important to provide? What does development mean to you?


  4. (4) Do you support the development of affordable/workforce housing in Sedona? What could/should the City do?


  5. (5) What is your position with regard to the lights on 89A?


  6. (6) What do you think in your background, experience and philosophy will bring something unique and different to the City Council?
